They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile”. This quote is by Vince Lombardi. It is best to describes my thoughts and experiences about leadership because hard work is how I became the leader and person I am today. When talks about leadership, the first thing that pop out from people’s mind is the characteristics of a leader. An efficient leader is defined as a person who is followed by the others. Besides that, a leader has to know about the human nature and be able to direct people reducing the group’s doubts about succeeding. Some people believe that a leader is born that way and there is no way, practicing or studying, to create a leader. They are absolutely wrong because inside of each and every one of us there is a leader waiting to come out. A leader is capable of influencing and inspiring people around him to voluntarily commit towards accomplishing a certain goal.   Limkokwing University not only famous for producing creative students but also popular in generating students with great leadership attitude especially among final year students. Lim Kok Wing University is giving their students an opportunity to explore their leadership attitude within themselves and develop it to the higher level. As a leader, I believe that I could take Lim Kok Wing to a new level compare to other universities. I have a value that very rare people have it which is mental strength. Some people have a misconception that only those people who are physically strong can become good leaders, but this is not the actual fact. A leader does not necessarily need to be physically strong and fit. What a leader need is to be mentally strong. I have this kind of quality and it helps me a lot in life especially in dealing with stress. As a student, the pressure is not once a month but its every day. So, it is necessary to have a strong mental. If I do not have mental strength, I think I would be crazy due to study workforce.   The next value that I possess is intelligence and alertness. In order to be a good leader, I need to use my brain all the time and I also have to remain alert with eyes and ears wide open otherwise I could be easily be fool by any fraud. Having a high IQ helps me to think fast and solve problems wisely. Intelligence not only helps me to think faster but it also helps me in making good decision. If I want to take Lim Kok Wing to a higher level, I need to stay alert most of the time especially if it related to students problems. I notice that there is a lot of lacking at this university. Some of the issues are not many reference books at the library and not enough carpark for students.  Other than that, the hostel is not capable to accommodate a lot of students. For this reason, some students have to rent a house and it is quite costly.   Other than having a solid mental strength, intelligence and alertness, I also have an optimist perspective. In my opinion, a leader should have a positive thinking because it could lead to a better behavior. If a leader does not have a positive mind, he could give a bad influence to the people around him. The same thing happens if a person could not think positively. He tends to have depression and does not like to mingle with other people. An optimist perspective could give a great result in everything that we do. It also could change a person who is in a bad mood to be more cheerful and happy. By having this kind of quality in myself, I could give a good influence to the university’s students. This will give impact not only in their everyday life but also to the university’s performance and achievements. An optimist perspective helps me not to blame others when something bad happened. It teaches me to find the root of the problem instead of accusing people and put the blame on them. Blaming others will not help me to grow better but it only could destroy me as a leader.   Another cool attitude that I have is sense of justice. I am not a bias kind of person. Nowadays, it is hard to find a person that has a sense of justice. People tend to do kindness due to money and not because of sincerity from their heart. This is the reason why a lot of people are losing their sense of justice. Luckily I could still think wisely and not losing this precious value easily. Any leader that is fair and not bias will gain a really high respect from people around him. This would increase the level of trust and also support to him. One bad attitude that I do not have in myself is selfishness. As a leader, every decision that I make, I would think about other people first not about myself first. I am a leader not a boss. A boss would only think about his own interest and he does not bloody care about other people. If something happen, I am the person who needs to be blame and need to take responsibility. This shows that I am a responsible person and not only think about running away from problems.   As a conclusion, leadership is a quality hidden in the personality of a human being. In order to establish a leadership quality, one must explore his own attitude.  A good leader must be having a lot of great qualities in him. A leader must think about other people first and put away his own interest. This in turn, will result in an atmosphere of assurance among the followers. Invitational leaders seek to invite their associates to share in a vision of greatness, and offer them a vivid but powerful picture of human effort. The three leadership types also share the elements of trust and respect Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.
